The Blue Mountains Historical Society (BMHS) will hold its annual Mclaughlin Lecture on Saturday 1 March 2025 commencing at 10.30am. On this occasion, the talk will take place at the

Paul Sorensen

Wentworth Falls School of Arts on the Great Western Highway, Wentworth Falls.

Stuart Read will present an overview of the life and career of garden designer, Paul Sorensen. This Danish-born nurseryman and ‘place maker’ worked on over 100 private projects spread across New South Wales over the course of several decades. While best-known for his Blue Mountains gardens, he worked on Canberra, Illawarra, Central West and New England tableland gardens, too.

Stuart Read is a horticulturist, heritage bureaucrat, tour leader and talk giver who loves landscapes and gardens. He has studied gardens worldwide and has written widely about them.

His talk is not to be missed by anyone interested in gardening and the work of Paul Sorenson, in particular.

BMHS members are free. The price of admission for non-members is $5.00.

Morning Tea will be available from 10am.
