Historic Walk – Little Zig Zag and Breakfast Point 30 March 2019

Blue Mountains Branch of the National Trust (NSW)

When: Saturday 30 March 2019 at 9.00 am

Where: Meet at the termination of Knapsack Street, Lapstone

Join us for an historic walk along the Little Zig-zag Railway site, We will all meet at the termination of Knapsack Street in Lapstone at 0900 hrs. The walk will take us by the Breakfast Point platform site then down the top road to the turn-off to the quarry site where sand stone was won for the Knapsack Viaduct in 1864. From there we proceed up the middle road to top-points and then an easy walk out to the Lucasville Platform site and on to the termination of the top-wing. A fairly steep but good track can be taken from here to the Viaduct where we will explore its history, then back up to the top-wing and an easy walk back to Knapsack Street and our cars for a delicious morning tea. Some of the cuttings and spoil filling the low spots of the roadbed that we will be walking is a tribute to the engineering of the 19th century. Cost is $20.00 which helps to keep the Trust going!

Watch out for the green balloons!

Cost: $20
