Talk – Adrian Howie will speak about Edward Hewlett Hogben Sat 1 Feb 2025

The Blue Mountains Historical Society will hold its next monthly meeting and public talk on Saturday 1 February 2024. Both members of the Society and other members of the community are invited to attend. Admission fee to the talk for non-members of the Society is $5.00.

The Speaker on this occasion is a member of our Society, Adrian Howie, who will speak about one of  the leading early architects in the Blue Mountains, Edward Hewlett Hogben.

In his talk, Adrian will feature “Leuralla”, which Hogben designed for its original owner Harry Andreas, as well many other buildings to which he was connected, such as the Empire Theatre in Katoomba and additions to the Carrington Hotel. Hogben also designed many houses in the early 20th century  in the Upper Mountains contributing significantly to the streetscape we still appreciate today.

The meeting will  commence at 10.30am at the Society’s Hobby’s Reach meeting room at 99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls. Morning tea will be available from 10am for a small  fee.
